Sunday, April 26th

Frankie and I had a very full day! We packed some snacks and tried two new parks, Brushy Creek Lake Park and Champion Park, which are right next to each other, further west of us and north of Parmer. Brushy Creek Lake Park has a small playscape and, starting in late May, a mini water play area (free). It was cloudy and windy but never rained. We walked the trail along the lake and talked about all the plants and flowers. Frankie climbed the rocks and played with the gravel and we spent a good deal doing things other than kicking, throwing or managing a ball (there was some of that as well, but he was able to turn his focus). He pet a dog very nicely (he seems to be doing better with pets both in public and at home for me) and even laughed when it gave him a huge lick on his face. He has definitely been showing more interest in dogs. We headed to Champion Park and Frankei insisted on getting in the water sprayers there despite the cold - he assured me it was "worth it". Luckily, I had a change of clothes and a towel in the car. We headed home to eat lunch and check in with Frank, the roofer, who was inspecting some of the work done on the house.

We laid down for a rest but I could not get him to nap. We then went to the pet store to pick our the aquarium and talk to the fish guy about what kind were a possibility for the tank. We spent a long time looking at the mice, birds and lizards as well, then picked up Spring Water at the grocery store.

After playing at home for a bit, we ate dinner (green beans, fish - Frankie's choice, and cucumbers/radishes) and took popsicles to the kids next door. Frankie wanted to give the extra "helmet" he got at HEB to Kyan which was sweet. Frankie played very well with them for the next hour plus and I made great progress with the little girl, Layla, who had been wary of me up until then. Frankie and Kyan played "chase" and soccer...we all threw the ball together at one point, so there was even a bit of sharing, too. He didn't want to go home, but they had to eat dinner and we had to get ready for bed.
