Sunday & Monday, May 3-4th

Sunday, Frankie was I think still very tired from camping. All he wanted to do, really, was play with his toys inside. But the very first thing he wanted to do after you left was take a shower! He took a 45 minute shower and drew on the walls, played with containers and soap bottles and we practiced writing words on the shower stall walls. He asked me how to spell a certain word (tent, camp, yuri were some), I'd tell him the letters and he transcribed it for me. We played alot of games - Hi Ho Cherry O & Candyland, did a lot of drawing and story telling with the pictures amd pretend play with his stuffed animals. At some point, we made water balloons in the backyard for a while as well ("balloon time"). We took a walk after dinner (fish, his most frequent request, and peas/corn and crackers with goat cheese) to the elementary school half a block away and raced each other and ran around. He was very tired at this point and fell, scraping his knee. We went back home to get a bandaid and clean off the cut...he was mainly upset with the blood. Once the bandaid was gone, he asked me if the blood went back into his body and I assured him it did. He only made it through one book and was out.

Frankie protested going to school, as he often does early in the week. We joked that we would send Malcolm in his place and maybe Devon would not notice. He had a good day at school, but when I picked him up, I reminded him that we would need to go bowling Wed. because the bowling alleys are closed on Monday and he just lost it. Completely. Inconsolable crying and wailing almost all the way home...luckily, when we got home, he was happy to see that his baseball fan was up. After a snack of dried fruit and peppermint tea, he seemed allright. We made waterballoons in the backyard until dinner time and then had shrimp, scallops, broccoli, goat cheese and crackers...then popsicles with a little Magic Shell on them for dessert. It was hard to drop him off because I feel like I've barely seen him, but I had to remind myself that we'll be in St Louis for a whole week soon enough.
